Teaching with inspira

Children playing with percussion

inspira has been designed to support the national Wider Opportunities initiative known as Whole Class Instrumental and Vocal teaching (WCIVT). It can be a means of delivering the KS2 curriculum while at the same time giving children the opportunity to learn a musical instrument.

Many Wider Opportunities schemes are delivered jointly by a specialist instrumental teacher usually from the local Music Service, and a class teacher who often will not be a music specialist.

inspira is unique in providing not only differentiated parts for children to play but modes of delivery that support different levels of tutor expertise and confidence.

Many people are now routinely using laptops and data projectors in Wider Opps delivery but if you haven’t yet taken the plunge now may be the perfect time to try. The inspira single-click ICT app can help transform your Wider Opps session and instantly improve the experience for yourself and the children.

Most schools will be delighted that you want to use ICT in music and will make the effort to ensure it is set up for the session.

If you are an instrumental teacher using a school laptop, you can run the inspira ICT app from a USB key (memory stick) that you simply plug into the laptop and play.
