inspira lessons

Excited young musicians

inspira provides all the materials you need in order to provide a year of high quality music making for your year 4 or year 5 children. Each of the 36 lessons has 4 parts.

“I was very impressed when I saw the children in the inspira lesson. They were obviously enjoying themselves and you could see they really responded to the pace and energy the teacher was able to bring to it all with the excellent resources”

Martyn Evans, Wider Opportunities Director, Oldham Music Service

Lesson Part 1: ‘Arriving’

Children begin each lesson by listening to a piece of music; some they will know others they won’t.

Activities: The children play with the pulse, and talk about the music.

Lesson Part 2: ‘Playing games’

Children play pulse, rhythm and pitch games using specially designed inspira ‘games’ tracks. These tracks, which play on an endless loop in the inspira ICT app, are derived from the songs children learn and play later in the lesson. As well as being perfect for games, they help children learn the songs.

Activities: Children play pulse, rhythm and pitch games and appraise their work.

Lesson Part 3 ‘Singing and playing’

inspira contains 10 specially written songs that support the natural progression of musical learning using voice and instruments. The instrumental section in each song has been carefully arranged so that it can be used with many different instruments and ensembles. You simply choose the version of inspira that suits the groups you’re working with and the instrumental expertise you have available.
